About St Thomas
St Thomas’ Church was built in 1891. It is a Grade II listed building designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and paid for by Mrs Sophia Hall in memory of her son Thomas, Vicar of Whatton, who lost his life when RMS Quetta was shipwrecked off the north coast of Queensland. This event is depicted in one of the modern stained glass windows in the church. We hold a service every week at 10:45am with a verity of services on offer. On the first Sunday of each month we hold a Café Church service, starting with breakfast served from 10:15am. A small band provides the music and this service is an all-age service and attracts families with young children and our older parishioners. We hold Holy Communion on the 3rd Sunday of each month and on all other Sundays we hold a Morning Praise service. When there is a 5th Sunday, we host a Group Holy Communion.
