About St Thomas

St Thomas’ Church was built in 1891.  It is a Grade II listed building designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and paid for by Mrs Sophia Hall in memory of her son Thomas, Vicar of Whatton, who lost his life when RMS Quetta was shipwrecked off the north coast of Queensland.  This event is depicted in one of the modern stained glass windows in the church.  We hold an Informal Worship & Cranmer Kids service every week at 11am.  On the first Sunday of each month we hold a Café Church service, starting with bacon cobs and coffee served from 10:30am.  A small band provides the music and this service is an all-age service and attracts families with young children, as well as some of our older parishioners.
