Hi Everyone!
After last week’s Café Church Online Service by video, we’ve decided that we’ll take advantage of all the new filming and editing skills that we’ve learned, and we’ve put our regular service in video as opposed to podcast this week too. I hope you enjoy it, even if Esther doesn’t make an appearance this time around!
We’re continuing with the Church of England’s Lectionary, so we’ll be following readings over the next few weeks from St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans. Watch the video here at 9.30AM on Sunday 14th, and then, as usual, join us here on Zoom (Meeting ID: 864 0083 1074; Password: 549794) from 10.15AM for a catch-up with all your Cranmer Group friends. We could even discuss the sermon one of these weeks!
We also have some good news to share with you – we’re now able to open our church buildings, for private prayer only, in line with new Government guidance.
Thanks to the efforts of our Wardens and others to ensure that we have all the necessary social distancing and hygiene arrangements in place, we’re very pleased to be opening up our churches again. Do come and spend some quiet time with God in our beautiful churches – they will be open from Monday 15th June according to the following timetable, which will apply to every week until further notice –
In our service, our worship is, as usual, led by Deb and Deborah – thank you both. Our hymns today are:
Holy, Holy, Holy
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Reginald Heber
All My Hope on God Is Founded
All my hope on God is founded;
He doth still my trust renew.
Me through change and chance he guideth,
Only good and only true.
God unknown,
He alone
Calls my heart to be his own.
Human pride and earthly glory,
Sword and crown betray his trust;
What with care and toil he buildeth,
Tower and temple, fall to dust.
But God’s power,
Hour by hour,
Is my temple and my tower.
God’s great goodness aye endureth,
Deep his wisdom, passing thought:
Splendour, light, and life attend him,
Beauty springeth out of naught.
Evermore
From his store
New-born worlds rise and adore.
Daily doth the Almighty giver
Bounteous gifts on us bestow;
His desire our soul delighteth,
Pleasure leads us where we go.
Love doth stand
At his hand;
Joy doth wait on his command.
Still from earth to God eternal
Sacrifice of praise be done,
High above all praises praising
For the gift of Christ his Son.
Christ doth call
One and all:
Ye who follow shall not fall.
Joachim Neander (trans. Robert Bridges)
As usual, if you’d prefer to read rather than listen to the podcast, the sermon transcript, reading and prayers can be downloaded here:
And if you cannot make it to our churches for private prayer, do keep joining us for our Morning and Evening Prayer gatherings on Zoom – Wednesdays and Fridays at 9AM, and Thursdays at 8PM.
Best wishes, and God bless,
